This lesson – how to draw holly — is a bit of an 'add-on' to the Cartoon Bell lesson from previous.

As mentioned before, this piffling constitute snippet looks nifty when attached to the superlative of a bell, making for a really nice-looking Christmas decoration.

Then again, information technology'due south also quite nice but past itself – or fastened to a number of other 'Christmasy' type things.

A snowman, a gift, a sleigh, a wreath… have your pick!

Here's the lesson…

Get-go Step – Describe a Bundle of Holly Berries & Map Out the Leaves

As mentioned above, what yous're drawing hither is but a 'snippet' of the actual plant. Afterwards all… that'southward how you'd normally see it displayed – in the form of a Christmas decoration.

Starting from the inside out – and somewhat similar to how you'd draw the top of a palm tree, here's how to begin…

Start with a small bundle of berries (iii works very nicely), and later that – depict some curved lines branching from outward and away from the bundle. Keep your branches at either two or iii… no less and well – in my opinion – no more than.

Got the first function complete? Nifty! On to the other office…

Second (and final) Footstep – Simple Repeating Concave Leaves

Once yous've got your paths fatigued – one for each leaf y'all intend to add, drawing the leaves is nice and uncomplicated. And to guide yous through the first leafage, I'll refer to the ane at the bottom left in the case below.

Offset at the lower-left terminate of the lower-left leafage line – and following forth the TOP of the line commencement, draw a series of four concave arcs running towards the bundle of berries that you lot drew previously…

Then – with the peak department of your first leaf fatigued, go on with the other/lower/closer side of the leaf in the same fashion. Brainstorm out at the far left tip once over again, and describe another serial of concave arcs. Note! Regarding the lower/closer department of each leaf (those that are positioned more horizontally)… make sure its thicker than the other half. Helps to give your holly a neat '3D' wait.

And, when one leafage's consummate – motion on to draw the other one or two – depending on how many you've got!

Last thing to do — erase the underlying lines, color it, and fasten it to your cartoon bell from the previous lesson.
